#PowerDistribution companies have devised a new measure to fight the long prevailing issue of #commerciallosses. These losses occur due to delays in #billing or bill #payments. The root cause is to this issue is aggression of customers against utility billing and #meter reading staff. It has been reported time and again that meter reading staff while visiting certain localities get impaled by the locals.
Yet another #intriguing reason is #powertheft. Power theft has always been an issue with distribution systems. Recently similar issues were unearthed to be happening with #powertransmission systems as well.
Distribution companies, to counter these issues have come up with a new and easy solution. They are willing to limit #availability of power to such locations where the power theft issues prevail to only six hours a day.

What #impact it will have?
Distribution losses would be reduced drastically
People might start paying bills in time to prevent power cuts
#Gridstability at large would improve due to prevention of theft and proper scheduling of power
Power Distribution companies would stop over-consuming the #taxpayers money in form of grants and #government #loans
Bills of power generators would be paid in time, which will boost confidence in the #investors of #renewableenergy sector
Cons:
Some of the people regularly paying bills might suffer unnecessarily
#Industries in such places where losses are more due to the distribution system itself might suffer from losses
But the cons of such a decision could be reversed with some technological reinforcements like proper maintenance of lines and segregation of feeders.
